On February 3, 2015 at approximately 1:30pm a male white approximately 5’11 with a mustache wearing a baseball cap knocked on the door of 47 Wolfle Street in Glen Cove NY. When the 85 year old resident answered the door.
The man proceeded to walk into the house take the homeowner by the hand and led her to the back door of the house. This unknown man was wearing some type of walkie talkie around his neck. At that time her 79 year old husband woke up from his nap and joined the man and his wife at the back door.
The unknown man then told the homeowners that he needed to cut some trees down in their yard. The husband pointed out to the man that he doesn’t have any trees in his yard. The man then started talking on his walkie talkie and a second man entered the house . The second man is described as a heavy set male white with short dark hair possible 5’7 wearing dark clothing. This second man was also wearing some type of a walkie talkie around his neck.
Both of the men then walked the husband into the backyard. The men then continued to talk with the husband. After a few minutes the second man entered the house while the first man remained in the back yard with the husband. After a minute or two the first man walked into the house accompanied by the husband. When they got to the front of the house the husband noticed a silver or grey 4 door pickup truck backing out of his driveway. The husband remembers that this pickup had some type of cover on the back bed of the truck.
The first man then proceeded to walk out of the house and toward the pickup truck which was now driving south bound on Wolfle Street. The husband then checked his bedroom and noticed that his safe containing his life savings of over $50,000 was missing from his bedroom. Approximately 15 minutes earlier, a block away at 11 First Street, a man fitting the description of the first man entered the residence of another elderly couple.
Once inside the house the man confronted the 93 year old man living there with his wife and told him he was there to pick up a table. The couple’s home health aide emerged from another room and confronted the man. The aide then called the couple’s daughter and the man left the house.
